Jesse won this months title for always reminding his co-workers of the hazards they may encounter on the job sites, as he has had more experience on these sites.
The Sasco Vancouver Island Division is excited to be working with Scansa Construction to bring 60 affordable residential units to Langford for the M’akola Housing Society. Site preparation and temporary power are currently underway just minutes away from our Sasco Vancouver Island office on Station Street. The first floor will also provide new commercial space for the offices of the M’akola Housing. This is phase one of a larger project that will eventually provide 160 residential units to the local aboriginal community. We are honoured to be part of such a community driven project and are looking forward to working with our partners, Scansa Construction and M’akola Housing Society, in bringing this project to life.
As September hits and the rain makes it way back to the City, SASCO would like to take the time to have a quick walk down memory lane for the summer of 2018. We had a lot of fun as a group enjoying a few company lunch barbeques at the office, hosting a taco food truck, a family BBQ in the park, Foremen fishing trip, a women’s baseball game night, and maybe one or two games of golf. Basically, we did A LOT together! While working extremely hard during the beautiful summer days, SASCO employees still created lots of memories with their colleagues and with their families for those who took some vacation time to soak up the rays. We are glad to have seen so many of our employees balancing the act of working but still finding time to enjoy themselves outside our “family home”. With the summer now in the distant past, we are happy to have our “family” back together for another fall/winter season. Thanks for the memories SASCO!
Mike has been granted this months honour for his very well organized and ergonomically correct workspace. Way to set the example Mike!
Our SASCO Kamloops team has been busy working away on one of their largest projects to date with the Nicola Valley Health Centre. Sasco will be apart of this $6.5 million dollar project which will be providing staff and patients with a renovated and expanded Emergency Department. The hospital’s ER is being expanded from 100 square metres to approximately 500 square metres and will include features such as a covered ambulance bay, a separate ambulance entrance, confidential triage/registration spaces and a new nurse station.
Our foremen have been digging their hands into this exciting expansion by providing new electrical systems, camera systems, security systems, CAT6 data system, Nurse call system and new LED lighting complete with Lutron Sensor Lighting system. Wow, that’s a lot of systems! The project started in September 2017 and is expected to be completed by October 2018. Our team is very excited to be working on a project that is contributing to the greater good of the residents and providing the staff with more space to help their community. We can’t wait for Nicola Valley Hospital to be revamped.
Ian has won this months safety honour by pointed out to our safety officer that a safety form was missing a section that requires us to list the closest hospital. Nice catch Ian!!!
For diligence and thoroughness in ensuring a system change-over went smoothly and most importantly safely.
The SASCO Vancouver Island division has hit the ground running during their first full year of operation. The team has fully moved into their new home located at 101-2785 Leigh Rd in Langford and everyone is thoroughly enjoying the new space. Our Island presence has been receiving a great response from clients in the community and with the location being extremely visible to a large amount of traffic in the area. We have been getting on the map here fairly quickly. There is no doubt that the Vancouver Island construction market knows SASCO has arrived. A BIG kudos goes out to the field teams that have successfully completed many projects around the South Island with outstanding quality, safety and professionalism. These projects include fire alarm upgrades, lighting upgrades, data installs, tenant improvements, and even a seismic upgrade with a new commercial building for UVIC. A special thanks goes out to Project Manager, Tom Takacs, for his dedicated support in getting the service division off the ground while helping estimate projects and still working hard in the field.
Jason was nominated for his work at Iberdrola and the Merritt Hospital. Great work on keeping safety at the top of the priority list Jason!
It has been a busy few months down at Sasco headquarters where we are currently in the midst of construction and are expanding our office space. As we have grown over the years, so has our office! We are very excited about this project.
The Reotech Construction crew has spent the last few months arriving early at our Sasco office to bring this project to life. They have been great at working during business hours while maintaining as little disruption as possible to our team and workplace. With walls being knocked down, multi-units being amalgamated into one, and drywall going up, it has been a busy few weeks watching our office transform into our perfect home away from home. The new space will include an employee lounge area, expanded boardroom, additional offices, additional desk seating and twice the warehouse space.
We would like to thank the staff for being so patient and fantastic during these last few months of construction. They have all adopted great humour (and ear plugs) during this time and have been very supportive of the build. Thanks for still smiling and for cheering on the workers as they continue to work hard to complete our new office. We can’t wait!
Clayton has earned this title by displaying his excellent use of pictures in his inspections (and now selfies). From Clayton himself, “Very much appreciated. And of course to my crews! Lots of hard work and attention to being safe from all!”

Sasco Contractors is proud to be part of this exciting new project by providing electrical and communication contracting services to this new multi-level CHAC which will include the full range of services that a person would need for ongoing care.
